A Little Bit of Faith

Faith

Devotional from Pastor Tim

Faith was never meant to become the focus of our lives—Jesus is.

Yet many of us quietly live under pressure, wondering if we have enough faith, how to grow it, or why our trust sometimes feels weak. Before long, faith itself can become the object of our worship and attention instead of the Savior we’re meant to rest in.

But Jesus made faith beautifully simple. He said even faith the size of a mustard seed is enough.

Why? Because the power of faith is not found in its size, but in its object. A little bit of faith placed in a big Savior can move mountains. What matters is not how much faith you can produce, but Who your faith is in.

When Peter stepped out onto the water, he trusted Jesus enough to take the first step. But when he shifted his eyes from Jesus to the wind and waves around him, fear began to take over. Jesus said, “O ye of little faith,” but He wasn’t talking about the amount of Peter’s faith, but the duration of it. Peter trusted Jesus for one step, but struggled to keep trusting Him for the next.

We know what that feels like. Life gets loud. Circumstances feel overwhelming. Our focus drifts. But even then, Jesus remains steady.

This is the beauty of grace: God is not measuring the amount of your faith. He is inviting you to trust His Son. Even when your faith feels fragile, Jesus is faithful. He holds onto you securely even when it feels like you’ve lost your grip! So today, you can rest from trying to have “more” faith. Simply take the next step with Jesus. Fix your eyes on Him, and trust that a little bit of faith in a faithful Savior brings rest and freedom.

“…fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith…” — Hebrews 12:2
