Are We Sinners?

Sinner vs. Saint

Devotional from Pastor Tim

Many believers spend their lives trying to feel close to God, hoping that more prayer, effort, or discipline will bridge the gap. But if you’re in Christ, there is no gap.

You don’t need to get close—you already are.
You don’t have to chase after intimacy—He lives in you.
Union with Jesus is pure grace—it’s something He accomplished, not something you achieve.

The saying “we’re just sinners saved by grace” sounds humble, but it misses the truth. You’re not a sinner trying to act like a saint; you’re a saint who sometimes sins. Your old self, the sinner, was crucified with Christ, and you were raised as a brand-new creation, a saint. Sin doesn’t define you anymore; Jesus does.

When we forget this, the Christian life becomes a self-improvement project. But growth isn’t about fixing the old you; it’s about expressing the new you, holy, righteous, and blameless in Him.

You’re not separated—you’re sealed.
You’re not distant—you’re indwelt.
Instead of striving for acceptance, you can rest in it, knowing your efforts don’t bring you closer to God—they flow from the closeness you already have.

So breathe deep. You’re fully loved, forever united, and completely accepted, all by His grace… which not only changes you, it transforms what you do.

“But now in Christ Jesus you who formerly were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.” Ephesians 2:13
