Are You Broken?

Devotional from Pastor Tim

“Broken” has become a popular word. We talk about broken hearts, broken families, and a broken world. And in many ways, we can relate to that. We feel disappointment, failure, and pain. At times, our emotions can feel shattered. But feelings are not identity.

The moment you received Jesus, the Bible says you were saved. And salvation is far more than a spiritual bandage.

The Greek word for salvation—sozo—means to be rescued, healed, and made whole. God didn’t simply patch you up. He made you new at the core. He brought you back into His intention and design for your life in Christ so that you can function the way you were created to.

Yes, we still live in a broken world. But as a believer, you are not broken.

In fact, Scripture shows that our deepest problem was never that we were merely broken and needed fixing. We were spiritually dead and needed life. And God did exactly that. He made you alive together with Christ. He didn’t improve the old you; He gave you a new life.

This matters because we tend to live according to what we believe about ourselves. Proverbs reminds us that as we think in our hearts, so we live. If you believe you are broken, you will find justification for living in broken ways.

But the truth is different.

You are whole. You are made new. You are acceptable to God. The Holy Spirit lives in you as proof that you have been restored. You have not merely been fixed; you have been loved into wholeness.

So think truthfully about who you are. Agree with God about your identity. You are His child, fully alive, fully accepted, and fully loved.

And that is very good news.

Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. 2 Corinthians 5:17
