Feeling Overwhelmed?

Feeling overwhelmed is normal for any human being, even the child of God. Being overwhelmed is not. Life is hard, busy, fast-paced, and demanding at times…for everyone. But God offers a relationship where the burden is light, and rest is available.  It’s one thing for the pressures of life to cause our emotions to go haywire, but when we allow those emotions to determine truth for us, we are going against our God-given design. Emotions can often scream at us, seemingly drowning out God’s “still small voice” that reminds us, “I’ve got this, and I’ve got you.” This is why the Bible encourages us to set our minds on truth and not to try and fix our feelings. The feelings aren’t wrong for you to have, just unhealthy if they have you. We are designed to feel as we walk through this world, but we are not designed to feel our way through this world. We walk by faith in the truth that God loves us, He is for us, and He always has our best in mind, even if and when we don’t feel it. We walk by faith in the reality of His presence in us, our rightness before Him, and never having to worry about being forgiven. In short, knowing Whose we are and who we are, helps to quiet our emotions, settle our resolve, and point us to our only source of truth and hope…Jesus!

Matthew 11:28-30 “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
