God is Your Friend

It’s one thing to know that God loves you, but it’s quite another to believe He actually likes you. Many of us imagine God merely puts up with us and that He has to because, after all, He is God. We project our own disappointment with ourselves onto Him, assuming He must see us the same way. But grace tells a different story. God’s acceptance of you is not based on what you do or how you feel—it is entirely based on what Christ has already done because of who He is.

He delights in you. He doesn’t shake His head in frustration at your flaws or roll His eyes at your weakness. Instead, He calls you His beloved child, His friend, His new creation. That means His acceptance is not fragile, shifting with your moods or mistakes. It is anchored in the finished work of Jesus and cannot be undone. He doesn’t just call you family, He calls you friend because while He certainly loves you, He also likes you!

Today, rest from trying to prove yourself worthy of being loved or liked and enjoy the truth that you already are!
