Devotional from Pastor Tim Chalas
Philippians 4:13 is one of the most quoted verses in Scripture: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” But too often, it's pulled out of context and used as a motivational slogan. It’s not a promise that we can accomplish anything if we just believe hard enough. It’s a declaration of Christ being more than enough for anything we face.
Paul wasn’t talking about achieving great and impossible things. He was talking about enduring hardship as he wrote from a prison cell. In the surrounding verses, he shares that he has learned to be content with little or much, in hunger or in plenty. The “all things” refers to every circumstance life throws at us — and the truth that Christ is enough in all of them.
This means you don’t need perfect circumstances to have peace. You don’t need complete clarity to put confidence in Christ. You don’t need more resources — it’s about trusting the Source. And Christ, who is your life, is more than sufficient!
No matter the situation — financial struggle, relational pain, emotional exhaustion — Jesus is your source. You don’t need to be stronger, but remember where your strength comes from. And in Christ, you already have everything you need to face today with courage and peace.
