Lies Lose Power

Lies

Devotional from Pastor Tim

We live in a world under the influence of the enemy, one who is actively and continually working to distort the truth. This influence isn’t always loud. Sometimes, it’s just a whisper… a half-truth… or a slight twist on what God has said.

Satan, the “father of lies, ”weaves deception through any and every means available, whether through culture, education, media, or politics. His influence can be subtle or blatant, but either way, it sows confusion, division, and destruction. This war on truth is nothing new; it’s a strategy as old as Eden.

But make no mistake: this is not a cultural or political battle—it’s a spiritual one. Victory isn't found in parties or policies, but in the gospel. Because when the gospel is truly believed, lies lose their power. The gospel is more than a set of doctrines; it’s a person. And His name is Jesus. In Him, we find what we've been fighting for all along: love, worth, significance, and belonging.

The lie that we must be like God can finally be repented of… when we realize the truth that we are already liked by God, revealed fully in Christ. That truth brings freedom. And while the battle still rages, we begin to see it differently. As Ephesians 6:12reminds us, “We do not wrestle against flesh and blood.” Our fight is no longer against one another.

Now, we fight the good fight of faith, choosing to believe and stand firm in the truth. We are rooted in love, led by the Spirit… and steady, even as the enemy’s influence surrounds us. Christ is both your armor and your ammo in the battle against lies.

Ephesians 6:14 “Stand firm therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness.”
