Devotional from Pastor Tim Chalas
Many of us wrestle with knowing God’s will. We agonize over decisions, fearful of missing God’s plan for our lives. We kind of think of God’s will as this divine road map to His blessings, and nobody wants to miss out on that. This can lead to being paralyzed in making decisions, worried about missing His will. But what if the will of God is not like trying to follow a complicated map but simply knowing the Messiah? The will of God is a person…not just a plan.
When you are in Him, you are in the will of God, and you have everything you need for life and godliness (2 Peter 1:3) ...even what it takes to make decisions! So, it’s not as much about the choices we make but about Christ.
Of course, God can and does lead us in specific decisions, but His greater concern is not what you choose — it’s that you trust Him. He is not playing Hide & Seek with His will. He loves you. He is for you. And in that freedom, you can make choices from faith, instead of fear.
The gospel frees you to live from His desires, placed in your new heart, trusting that Christ in you is sufficient. You don’t need to obsess over perfect outcomes when you are walking with the Perfect One. The will of God is not a secret path to discover but a Savior to depend on.
Romans 12:2 …be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.
