Devotional from Pastor Tim
Many believers understand grace at the starting line. We knew we couldn’t save ourselves, so we trusted Jesus. But somewhere along the way, it’s easy to drift into thinking the rest is up to us, that growth now depends on our effort.
We begin by grace, then try to continue by striving.
But Scripture brings us back to something simple and freeing: the same grace that saved you is the same grace that sustains you. Your life in Christ never shifted from dependence on Him to dependence on yourself. It has always been about trusting Jesus.
Church, Bible study, and serving are all good and meaningful, but they are not the source of your growth—Jesus is. Grace isn’t just what got you in; it’s what carries you forward. You’re not called to improve yourself for God, but to live from the life He has already placed within you. When you lean on your own effort, pride or pity is the potential. But grace offers something better, steady growth rooted in dependence.
Grace is not passive. It is powerful. It produces love, holiness, and real transformation, not by pressure, but by the presence of Christ in you.
Grace isn’t just for getting you into heaven but for living on earth. So today, don’t fall back into self-effort. Walk the same way you began, by grace through faith.
Colossians 2:6 Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him.
