What a Small God

We all know that God is big. He parts seas, raises the dead, and sets captives free. We think of Him in terms of power, miracles, and grand displays of glory. And rightly so. But have you considered how personal He is in the ordinary routine of your life?

Most of our days aren’t filled with mountaintop moments. They’re made up of routines. We wake up, go to work or school, prepare meals, run errands, fold laundry, and tuck our kids into bed. And somewhere along the way, it’s easy to assume that God shows up in the miraculous, but not so much in the mundane.

But the truth is, you don’t need a dramatic spiritual event to experience Him. You simply need an awareness of what is already true: He is with you, and He is at work in you and through you—even in the unseen, unnoticed moments.

Scripture invites us to fix our eyes on Jesus, not just in the incredible, but in the constancy of daily life. When Elijah longed to hear from God, the Lord wasn’t in the wind, the earthquake, or the fire. He revealed Himself in a gentle whisper, a still small voice. Not because God wasn’t in the dramatic, but because He wanted to be known in the quiet.

The same is true for you.

Because Christ is your life, He is present in the small things. Taking out the trash, driving carpool, answering emails, mowing the lawn—these are not God-free moments. They are opportunities to experience His nearness.

As you begin to look for Him in the ordinary, something shifts. Meaning replaces monotony. Even the simplest moments become sacred, not because they change, but because you recognize He is close and personal.

You don’t have to invite God into your day. He already lives in you, not just in the extreme but in the everyday. That’s how good He is and how much He loves you!

“for in Him we live and move and exist…” Acts 17:28
