Devotional from Pastor Tim
Sometimes God can feel silent, especially when life is confusing, prayers seem unanswered, or our emotions are louder than our confidence. In those moments, it’s easy to wonder if God is distant, if we’ve missed something, or if He’s waiting for us to do more before He responds.
But the truth is freeing, not frustrating.
Faith means we do not have to see everything, hear everything, or understand everything in order for something to be true. We walk by faith, not because God is absent, but because He is faithful.
The silence we feel is not proof that God has stepped away. When God feels silent, it may simply mean we are learning to trust what is true beyond what is obvious. In Christ, God is not distant from you. He has placed His Spirit within you. You are joined to Jesus, loved by the Father, and permanently connected to Him by grace. His presence is not fickle, and it does not come and go based on your feelings or circumstances.
Sometimes we look for God in dramatic signs or unmistakable experiences, hoping for some visible proof that He cares. But the gospel gives us something far better than writings in the sky or mysterious signals. It gives us Christ in you.
The Father is not waiting for you to find Him; He has already found you and made His home in you.
That means even when you cannot feel Him, explain what He is doing, or understand the season you are in, He is still near. He knows every fear, every question, every burden, and every detail of your life. Scripture says He even knows the number of hairs on your head!
So when God feels silent, you can rest. You are not abandoned, forgotten, or outside His care. The cross already settled forever whether God is for you.
You may not have every answer today, but you do have Him. And He is enough.
A Prayer for This Week
Father, thank You that Your presence in my life is not based on my feelings or circumstances. Thank You that through Jesus, I have been brought near and will never be abandoned or forsaken. When life feels quiet, uncertain, or unclear, remind me that Your Spirit lives in me and that You are always with me. Help me walk by faith and rest in what is already true because of Christ—that I am loved, secure, and fully Yours. Teach me to trust Your heart even when I do not understand Your timing. Amen.
