Devotional from Pastor Tim Chalas
The gospel is not about our climb to God—it’s about His descent to us. In Jesus Christ, God chose to enter our weakness, fragility, and even our rejection. The One who needed nothing became needy. The One who held all power became dependent. The Author of life willingly tasted death, all because of love.
This is not a God who watches from a safe distance but One who has walked in your shoes. He understands sorrow, rejection, hunger, and pain. He didn’t simply design humanity from a heavenly blueprint—He stepped into it, facing the very things we face and feeling the very things we feel. And through child-like trust in His Father, He overcame every trial and temptation.
What kind of love is this? A love that empties itself to the point of death so that you might live. Every step He took on earth was motivated by the joy of redeeming you and knowing you.
That’s why you can rest assured that His love for you is not heady theology, but personal and relational. You don’t have to wonder if He “gets” you. He does, and His love for you will never fail.
“See how great a love the Father has bestowed on us, that we would be called children of God; and such we are…” — 1 John 3:1
