For many, discovering God’s will feels like trying to solve a puzzle. We can become paralyzed as we stress over making the “right” decision, hoping to find God’s will for our lives. When we reduce His will to a set of choices—what job to take, who to marry, where to live—believing that if we pick correctly, God will bless us, we live in insecurity and fear. But what if God’s will is far simpler than we’ve made it out to be?
What if God’s will isn’t a puzzle we try to solve but a Person we trust? Romans 11:36 tells us, “For from Him, and through Him, and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen.” Apparently, it’s all about Jesus! Wanting to know God’s will is about wanting to be right with God. We are made right with God in Christ, not by daily decisions. That’s why Romans goes on to tell us that we are acceptable to God, so be transformed in how we think, and His will is proven by this. The pressure to figure everything out melts away when you realize that, in Christ, you are already fully blessed and given a new heart that wants what God wants…that’s why you desire to know His will. No more second-guessing every choice, wondering if God is okay with it and okay with you. His will for you is Jesus and simply trusting Him brings confidence and freedom to your decision-making.
Romans 12:1-2 Therefore I urge you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.
